When J. and I lived in Westchase, one of our favorite places to go was Jack Willie’s in Oldsmar. This quaint bar and restaurant is right on the water, dog friendly, and has lots of live music. So when we got the chance to go back a few weeks ago, I couldn’t wait!
The outdoor patio and bar area were packed when we got there, but thankfully there was at least room inside. The atmosphere is really warm, casual and beachy, exactly what you’d want with an on the water location. The service was quick and friendly, which is always appreciated.
I decided on a combo platter with grilled scallops and shrimp. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of seafood on my plate! Everything was seasoned and cooked perfectly and you could tell it was fresh. As part of the platter I also got two hush puppies that were nice and crisp on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside, as well as two additional sides. It was a quite a feast!
J. got a Grouper reuben, which of course is a play off of the classic sandwich with thousand island, swiss cheese, and sauerkraut. The bread was toasted lightly to help hold up to the rest of the sandwich. Again, the fish was fresh, cooked, and seasoned well. It’s like the best of both the deli and fresh seafood. They also have a Grouper melt that is served with thousand island, swiss cheese, and coleslaw, which is another favorite of mine.
So if you get the chance, head out to Jack Willie’s! Get a seat on the patio (or under the tiki bar), kick back, relax, and enjoy that beautiful view, fresh food, and live music.
Until next time!
